The addition of Pilates reformer classes to Nicky’s extensive and diverse teaching repertoire strengthens her commitment to helping her students build a joyful and sustainable movement practice.
Nicky’s embodied movement practice flows through the veins of the prana flow yoga lineage created by Shiva Rea. Alongside more than two decades of yoga practice and teaching she is initiated into the indigenous martial art tradition of Kerala called Kalarippayat. She has served pregnant folks for fifteen years as a movement educator and birth doula. Nicky has owned movement studios in both Vietnam and Canada, and delivered yoga teacher training programs since 2004. Nicky is also the co-founder of the vibrant digital yoga and movement subscription platform, Leelapod. Outside of teaching movement classes and trainings she consults on projects as an independent Art Historian. She completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Asian Art (2022), with a focus on the visual roots of yoga, and the Yogic Studies Certificate (2019) at SOAS, University of London, England. She continues to study Sanskrit language, and textual studies of various medieval yoga traditions through Yogic Studies in California. Born in Aotearoa, New Zealand, Nicky now resides in Tkaronto with her two teenage sons and husband.
